Sunsets at Lake Wylie are usually impressive; beautiful golden sunsets over the rippling water of the lake. From the western horizon, like a magician, the sun extends his golden wand over the lake water. At the touch, the sky and water seem to catch fire, melt and mingle togather. Sometimes passing clouds catch pink and purple hues from reflected light making for absolutely scintillating and serene sunsets.
Everytime I look at a sunset, I sit back and watch the magic unfold. I don't find myself saying, "add a little more red on the left corner, and put some more purple along the base, and use a little more orange in the water colour..." I don't find myself trying to control the sunset, but watch it with awe as it unfolds. I wish I could fully appreciate an individual the way I appreciate a sunset. Still working on it...

Full moon at Lake Wylie
TGIF!! Last day of the week, start of the weekend. With fall seaon in full swing, its natural to head out to catch some colours every opportunity that one gets. Charlotte is always a bit late for fall and it may be two more weeks before we see Charlotte in its full splendour. But there are some places that get colours early. Lake Wyile is one such place.
Swamy, Praveen and myself headed out to the lake to catch some colours before the sun sets. On reaching the place we realized, it was still early for the full fall splendour. But we did have some colours. Much to my surprise and amazement, it was full moon night. It was a beautiful sight to see the moon shining brightly over the colourful tree line. As it was lower on the horizon, it looked huge. I captured some shots of the treeline and the moon separately and later merged them to create a composite image (learnt couple of days back). Not bad for a first attempt!! :-)

Heart - the only broken instrument that works!!
The other night I was trying to capture different angles of a book. Later sorting through the pictures, I liked this one best. It has book, heart and bokeh all three in the same frame. There's a saying, "all that is worth cherishing begins in the heart". I couldn't agree more. The warm tones complement the mood of the picture.

Pan ka swad, Gazab ki mithaas!!
Remember the popular ad aired on Doordarsan in the early nineties featuring Archana Joglekar (I really loved her eyes).
"KYA!!! Shadi aur tumse, kabhi nahi."
The innocent way in which she speaks after eating pan pasand was really cute.
The jingle in the background was "Pan ka swad, Gazab ki mithaas".
I suppose this candy of the nineties is now extinct in India. But we still get it in some Indian shops in the US. We had got some the other day and just thought of capturing this shot in remembrance of those good old days...

In office...on a holiday!!
A day after Columbus Day; it's a holiday at office. And despite my best efforts I end up in office. Huddled togather in a conference room, the whole MDM team has been busy trying to debug the dreaded "deadlock" issue that has mysteriously resurfaced, this time in Production, after MDM implementation.
At the end of a long day during which the grey cells were tested on multiple occasions, I expected to see exhausted and tired faces. But it was a totally different scene that presented itself outside the office building. People made wisecracks and everyone had a smile on their face.
At such times, its difficult to resist the temptation to capture the magic of the moment. This time was no exception.

City of New York
One of my friends moved to LA couple of years back after living in New York for five years, then moved back after a year. Asked the difference, he replied, "When it's 28 degrees in New York, it's 78 in Los Angeles. When it's 102 degrees in New York, it's 78 in Los Angeles. There are about 8 million interesting people in New York, only 78 in Los Angeles."
Encircled by swift tides and sparkling waters, New York is undoubtedly America's greatest democratic island city. It rises with tall spires, glistening in sunshine, with such New World atmosphere, vista and action. There is no place like it, no place with an atom of its glory, pride, and exultancy. It lays its hand upon a man's bowels, he grows drunk with ecstasy; he grows young and full of glory, he feels that he can never die.
